30 Years in the Making

A little history: since none of us were around in the beginning, here’s a quick review. From 1846 until 1979, no GOP candidate had ever been elected governor in Texas. Since 1995, no Democrat has been elected governor. Once in the governor’s office, the GOP consolidated its majority in the legislature and all other statewide offices in the following 30 years. Call it a GOP strategy — it helps to have one when a political takeover is the objective. In Texas, the result of sustained GOP domination in partisan elections has left Democrats in office with little leverage.

What options do Democrats have to accomplish what they promised to voters when they get elected into a branch of government where they are the minority? One option is to build up the organizational structure to help elect more Democrats.

The Texas Democratic Party is the organization with the structure and resources to make this possible. This structure awaits 2026 candidates willing to campaign relentlessly, reaching every corner of the state and engaging as broadly as possible. Statewide candidates have a greater reach to help the Party reconnect with an electorate that has grown disengaged for a variety of reasons. Texas Democrats need a win, and Texans deserve a win.

My role in 2026 will be to run for public office to champion a government that delivers results, strengthens our communities, and puts government back to work for all Texans. I believe the best investment Texas can make is in a future where every child has equal access to quality education, every worker benefits from a strong and fair economy, and every citizen’s rights to life, liberty, and justice are fully protected.

We must invest in our schools, balance the tax burden fairly, and empower communities to thrive. I will stand up for an ethical and accountable government, reduce the influence of special interests, and ensure that the voices of everyday Texans are heard. I believe in a Texas free from despotism. Together we can set aside the influences that only serve to divide us.
